We Don't Know What His Name Is, But Here He Is!

So, we're not completely sold on LT. It just doesn't have the ring to it that Tini did, so we're going to stick with Tini until something better comes along. And no, Butters is not something better, but nice try. We might not find something until he's born, and then he'll get a real name. In the meantime, maybe our amazingly talented Webmaster will change the mantini up there from pink to blue.

Tini at 21 weeks!

Here, he's sucking his thumb. Awwww.

Feet! Hooray for feet!

And finally, the crowning achievement of Tini's gestation. His first monkey screech!

Tini-Meter: Awesome!!!

And yes, I'll get some pictures up soon.

Tini Wants a New Name

As sad as I am to say goodbye to the name Tini, I just don't think it works as well for a boy. For a fetus of an unknown gender or even a little girl fetus, it's great, but for a boy fetus, no. Jim and I have been thinking about it a lot and we're at a loss for a new name. A LOT of people have suggested Tino but I'm not really a fan.

My friend Christina has suggested that we ask our brilliant friends for their input, so please let us know if you have any ideas. The winner will get the pride of naming our son... for a few months anyway.

It's a BOY!

We had the big ultrasound today and found out that we're having a boy!

We were convinced, and I mean CONVINCED, that it was going to be a girl, so this was a big surprise. And yeah, we realize that it's basically a 50/50 chance for either, but there are some things in life you just know. Or so we thought.

Anyway, aside from the big reveal, Tini is doing very well and all of his measurements (head size, arm and leg size, weight, organ development, etc.) are within normal ranges. We'll post more details tonight once we get home from work. And yes, we will include pictures, Ashlynne :)

Halfway there!

20 weeks down, 20 to go! The weeks are flying by so fast now, I half expect to wake up and have to drive Tini to 3rd grade. I can't wait to buy Tini a Trapper Keeper - Transformers for a boy, and Voltron for a girl. Wait, do they make those anymore? If they don't, that's just sad. And you know what, I'm going to find out in a few years. Wait, I'm going to find out now... Yes! Ok, that's out of my system now. Back to Tini.

Suzi is feeling pretty good and I think we're at the point where it's hit us that we are having a baby in 20 weeks, but really, it hasn't hit us that we're having a baby in 20 weeks. It's close enough to make us crap our pants, but far enough away that we're not freaking out yet. Yet is the key word.

On a related note (babies, not freaking out), we saw Nolan and Chase this past weekend! We were up in Philadelphia for Nolan's 1st birthday and got to see the two of them. Nolan is walking around like a champ now, and he was a very well-behaved birthday boy. In fact, maybe a little too well-behaved. He decided to forego the whole mash-cake-all-over-my-face routine and opted for the playfully-pat-my-cake-and-then-try-to-stuff-it-in-my-pants routine. Classier, yes. As good of a photo-op, no. But, we had a great time and it seemed like he did too. We can't wait for the next birthday - get to it Chase!

Countdown

So, it's only 3 weeks until we find out if Tini is a girl or boy, which makes us wonder whether we should keep calling the baby "Tini" if it's a boy. Tini is an adorable name for a fetus, and if that fetus is a girl, still an adorable name. But we're not sure that a boy, even a fetus boy, would want to be called Tini. Just a hunch. I guess it'll just have to be a girl.

Our last appointment (last week) was again a non-ultrasound quickie appointment, so we don't have any new pictures to share. And since we won't have new pictures for a few more weeks, maybe I'll have to start posting pictures of children in monkey costumes or something.

Tini-Meter: This week, Tini is the size of a bell pepper!

So, how much is an ultrasound machine?

As it turns out, you don't get an ultrasound each time you go to the OB office. What the crap? That's the coolest part of being pregnant! Our last visit was about 2 minutes long, and while hearing Tini's heartbeat was great, it wasn't nearly as cool as seeing Tini move around and sing and dance and do Tai-chi and all of the other amazing things that Tini can already do. If you have an extra ultrasound machine, please send it to us, ASAP (that includes you, Tom and Katie). Thanks!

In other news, Suzi is doing well despite being tired and occasionally exhausted (she is growing a Tini inside her after all). One of her new favorite activities is taking naps, which she used to avoid at all costs. That's fine by me because I don't need much of an excuse to take a nap. So, whenever she looks a little tired on the weekends, I'm happy to suggest a nap, run upstairs, fluff her pillow, get into bed, and fall asleep before she gets there. It's the least I can do for her. Something tells me that we won't be taking as many naps this fall, so I'm just going to enjoy this while it lasts.

Oh, and another thing that I had no idea existed before we hopped aboard this baby train (in addition to babymoons) is the Snoogle. What is the Snoogle, you ask? Well, it's a big C-shaped pillow that your wife loves more than you after the 10 o'clock hour. Ok, that might be a stretch, but I'm wondering how Suzi slept before the Snoogle arrived. Granted, it is pretty freaking comfortable and I might get one too, but... yeah, I need to get one too.

We'll try to update this more than once every two weeks, and promise a post early next week after our next appointment. Thanks for checking in!

Tini-Meter: This week, Tini is the size of an avocado. Hooray!
